Hey all,
I recently returned from the Apple Specialist Marketing Coop’s Spring Conference in Austin and heard some awesome feedback and ideas. As many of you know, we’re dedicated to helping our subscribers be successful. It’s in this spirit that I’d like to pass on one idea that really stood out from the rest:
Offering your customers a one-time, flat fee to monitor their computer for life.
For example, when a customer gets a new Mac, they might buy an AppleCare warranty, a carrying case for a laptop, and various other accessories adding up to several hundred dollars. Why not also offer to monitor their computer for life for $99?
This idea may appeal more to retail specialists who sell hardware, it seems logical that this may be a viable alternative to others who give the service away for free.
Doing a little math here: a typical Mac user gets a new computer every 36-48 months which is essentially like charging them $2-2.75/month to monitor their computer over it’s lifespan. Less than the $10-20 a computer per month most charge, but it’s a lot more than nothing! 🙂
Let’s also not forget that while you’re monitoring their computers, you will be the first to know when something is wrong and can contact your customer to schedule a service call.
