Mac Client 6.8.1 – Updated volume usage info
November 9, 2021
Features New Root capacity reporting tool Notification of macOS 12 Monterey download. New diagnostics file gathering tool Change Improvements in gathering of FileWave version. Bug Fixes Fixed issue which would cause --disable --plugin to not work properly This release brings the parity between what Apple’s Finder says, and what our system reports. Historically, we’ve reported what’s happening on-disk, while the Finder reports what free space could become available as needed. The change may have been technically accurate but was at the cost of increased friction between our reports and what users of monitored computers experienced. Given that there was nothing to be done about the “hard drive being too full”, we’ve adjusted our reporting to match. Thank you all for your patience in this matter. Another addition to this release is a tool which lets our subscriber easily gather needed logs when requesting support from Watchman Monitoring. As of agent 6.8.1, no more right-clicking a folder, compressing, and looking for a .zip somewhere. You can gather logs by opening the Terminal and running a command, or script the log gathering via any number of remote tools. Watchman Monitoring’s next big thing
October 27, 2021
Watchman Monitoring has been acquired by SyncroMSP. It’s a big decision with big changes, here are some highlights for you: Watchman Monitoring is being maintained by a much larger team. The power of Watchman Monitoring is being brought to Syncro’s Mac and Windows agents. Syncro’s Windows agent is part of a well established RMM. Syncro’s Mac agent was well underway, and we’re at the helm of its upcoming general release. We are going to bring the power of Watchman Monitoring into Syncro – and it already has many of the things you have been asking for Application inventory? More options for integrated screen sharing? Remote scripting options? Server-side adjustments of warning thresholds? Watchman Monitoring was not designed with this tooling in mind, but that didn’t change our subscriber base from wanting them. Look for more news from Syncro in the coming months, we’re looking forward to complete the integration of our existing alerting to their product. In the meantime, we’ll keep bringing more goodness to Watchman Monitoring as well. Look for releases for our agents, as well as a recap of the work we’ve done in our Dashboard in the near future. About Syncro Syncro is leading the movement ...

TLS 1.0 & 1.1 disablement Jan 2, 2022 – Deprecation of OS support
October 1, 2021
In recent Mac and Windows agent release notes, we’ve indicated that support for older OS is ending. This is in large part due to the following upcoming change: As of January 2, 2022, Watchman Monitoring will only support Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 and newer. For most subscribers, this change will have little consequence. To see if this effects your fleet, we have added an “Unsupported OS” search in the Saved Searches in your Computer list view. Because the pending TLS change will prevent older OS from communicating with our server, and to prevent our agent from becoming stuck, the Monitoring Client software will be set to remote remove on November 30, 2021, ahead of the January 2 disablement of TLS 1.0 & 1.1. The related records will remain in your Dashboard, but will no longer report and show as “Agent Removed”. Monitoring Clients will be set to remote-remove on November 30, 2021: Windows XP Windows Vista Windows Server 2003 Windows Server 2008 Mac OS X 10.5 to MacOS X 10.8 Linux computers whose OS has left LTS. Window Server 2008 R2 will remain supported. Macs running 10.9 and 10.10 may continue to report, but no longer receive updates. As always, ...
